TV presenter Jeremy Vine captured a van "illegally turning right" which then crushed his bicycle in Camden.

The broadcaster, who regularly cycles to and from work with a GoPro camera on his helmet, uploaded the terrifying incident on Wednesday (September 13) on social media site X.

Calling it "unbelievable" he shared the incident with his 788,000 followers, saying: "This morning. About an hour ago. Illegal right turn, then watch. Unbelievable."

In the video the presenter and broadcaster can be seen cycling along Camden’s Tavistock Place when a white van turns across his path at a junction onto a cycle lane in Bedford Way.

You hear Mr Vine calling out and the sounds of horns, before the van driver reverses.

He is seen banging on the doors shouting 'stop stop' and, as the van moves forward again, his crumpled bicycle appears on the road.

Just under 2,000 people commented on the video with multiple messages both supporting and attacking Mr Vine and the driver.

Last month Mr Vine was thanked by waste collector Veolia after he shared footage online of one of its lorries driving the wrong way down a cycle lane.

The tweet led Camden Council to review the lorry routes with Veolia and which "reminded them of the importance of drivers keeping cycle lanes clear at all times" a spokesperson told this paper.
