Harry Styles was among hundreds of people to take to the swimming ponds and pools during the hottest weekend this summer.

The pop icon was pictured diving into the men's pond on Hampstead Heath on Sunday (September 10), which has been shared on social media sites.

Temperatures reached a sizzling 32 degrees on Saturday dipping only slightly the following day.

On both days there were huge queues outside the Ladies Pond. By 10am lifeguards had taken away a sign saying it was an hour's wait to go for a swim as the queue had extended almost to Millfield Lane.

Huge queues were reported at the mixed ponds and also at the lido.

One person wrote on Facebook on Sunday: "The queue for the lido for the 2.30 session today went around the building, across the grass and to almost the band stand - unprecedented."

City of London Corporation, which runs Hampstead Heath, put out a hot weather alert on Twitter telling people to only swim in lifeguarded ponds.

"Please don't swim in our non-lifeguarded ponds - they are cold, deep and full of hazards.

"Our lifeguarded ponds include: Ladies' Pond, Men's Pond and Mixed Pond all open from 7am to 7pm every day."
