A new venue has opened its doors offering a “twisted journey” into the quirky world of crazy golf.
Junkyard Golf Club, a multi-chain leisure brand, has launched a new London centre at Camden Lock Place after debuting in the city in 2019 with their Shoreditch site.
First opened in 2015 in Manchester, the brand also has outlets in Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and Oxford.
A spokesperson for the club said in a press release that the venue in Camden is their largest yet and features “crashed planes, burnt-out cars, and a spine-chilling horror-inspired rave course nestled in the basement.”
Four “creatively mashed-up courses” are said to be the highlight, and golfers will reportedly get to choose from over 20 cocktails like “bubble gum sunset” and “Junkyard love club” served at their four bars.
There will also be pizza twists and loaded nachos on the snack menu among other dishes.
In addition, the venue has a “huge hang out area” with “neon seating, booths, disco lighting and an entire wall of classic arcade games”.
The spokesperson added: “The site will also be launching a second phase later this year with Wildcat - a twist on a retro American diner inside the venue, which will occupy a spacious 1,200sq ft area or place orders for pick-up from anywhere within the venue.”
Four arcade-style Karoake booths will be added in the coming months, she said, with each offering a self-service experience, including one booth inside a VW camper van.
Speaking about the launch, Sam Jones, managing director of Junkyard Golf Club said Camden is like a “spiritual home” to them, where “people have been expressing themselves and doing things their own way since the 1960s”.
Their team, he said, has been working “tirelessly hard” to create their “craziest venue yet”. Their junk masters had to reportedly scour the country for wrecked aircraft, vintage Minis and bits of old fairground rides.
He added: “We’ve created a new horror-inspired rave course, created from an old kitchen hidden in the basement, adding a thrilling twist to the experience.
“We can't wait to open our latest creation and show people what we’ve been up to.’’
