Armed police swarmed a station after reports of a man with a machete.

Travellers were told to evacuate Golders Green station on Sunday (August 27) after reports of a male with a machete on board a train.

British Transport Police says that armed officers were called to the scene at around 7pm and two men were searched.

A spokesperson said: “Following a search of the men and the area, no weapons were found.”

One person claimed that Transport for London workers told people in Golders Green to "run and get out of the area" after alarms were raised.
