A huge well done to all our students who received their A-level, GCSE, and other qualifications this summer – once again Camden students have performed very well.
I visited Hampstead School last week for GCSE results day and it was fantastic to celebrate with pupils, their teachers and school staff and hear all about what they will be doing next.
As a borough, we are determined to do everything possible to support our young people and ensure the very best opportunities are available to help them succeed in the future. For example, our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) programme is helping young people gain the valuable skills needed to succeed in a STEAM career by connecting them to the many world-leading companies based in Camden.
Over the summer, our STEAM team delivered the borough’s most successful work experience week yet. More than 250 local students took part, gaining hands-on experience at a range of top STEAM employers including Google, the British Library and Lendlease.
Our goal next year is to go even bigger and better, so we’re calling on more local businesses to come forward and be a part of the Camden STEAM programme to offer work experience opportunities to even more students.
Parents and carers of older primary pupils will soon be applying for Year 7 secondary school places for 2024.
We know there’s a lot to think about, so we’re hosting a free ‘Moving On’ event at the Francis Crick Institute on September 21, where you can find out more about the application process and what our schools have to offer.
We’re also seeking parents and residents who are interested in becoming school governors, and those who attend the Moving On event can find out more about this exciting volunteering opportunity there too.
Camden schools are high achieving and ambitious for all students, offering a tremendous range of opportunities to help prepare young people for happy and successful futures. A key part of this are the wonderful school staff and teachers we have in Camden – so I’d like to also give a huge shout out to them for continuing to go above and beyond to support our young people and give them the best possible education.
Finally, I want to wish all of our students the very best in their future endeavours and the very best of luck to those returning to school for the new term – I’m sure you’ll make us proud!
