A busy Tube station was shut for more than two hours during rush hour after a person died.

West Hampstead Tube station, which sits on the Jubilee line, was closed at around 6.30pm yesterday evening (August 18).

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) said that it responded to calls that a person was unwell at the station.

One X user reported seeing two police vans and four ambulances outside the station.

A spokesperson for the service said: "Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene."

The station re-opened at around 9.15pm, almost three hours after it was first closed.

The LAS said that it sent an advanced paramedic, an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene.

British Transport Police have been contacted for more information.
