Shoppers were surprised to turn up to their local Tesco store to discover it will be closed for three days.
Tesco Express, in Swain's Lane, Dartmouth Park, closed on Monday (August 7) with customers turning up only to have to turn back.
A notice on the door said the store would be closed until Thursday (August 10) when it would reopen at 7am.
Tesco said the store was temporarily closed for shutter replacement works and apologised for the inconveniece.
Swain's Lane is also served by Fam Green Grocery Market, Shell & Co fishmongers, Meat butchers, deli Superette, bakery Gail's, a chemist and a newsagent.
A Tesco spokesperson said: "Our Dartmouth Park Express store is temporarily closed for shutter replacement works and will reopen on Thursday.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the closure while the refurbishment works take place."
