Pictures show fire crews at the scene of a fire where a man was found dead.

The blaze broke out in Woodyard Close in Kentish Town this morning (July 6) at 6.56am.

A man was later found on the ground floor of the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

Five other people managed to leave the building before the brigade arrived.

Most of the ground and first floors of a mid-terraced house that had been converted into flats were alight.

Crews are continuing to put out embers at this time, with drones monitoring the situation.

The flat that has been damaged in the fire has been confirmed to be council property.

Councillor Georgia Gould, leader of Camden Council, said: “Tragically a Camden resident has died following a fire at his home this morning.

"All of our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends.

“This has been a traumatic experience for those involved and we are providing emergency help to those who need it."

Cllr Gould continued: "Camden Council officers are on site providing support to residents and assisting the London Fire Brigade.

“I know our communities will come together to support those affected at this very difficult time.”

Council officers remain on site to offer support and advice to any residents in need and a rest centre has been set up locally for those who need it.

Around 70 firefighters and ten fire engines arrived. The fire service received 13 calls about the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and police are understood to be treating the fire as a crime scene.
