Famed for their Neapolitan pizzas with chewy crusts, Pizza Pilgrims has just opened a new restaurant in Queen's Park.

The spacious pizzeria has a lovely outdoor terrace for summer dining, and a bar serving negronis, Aperol spritz, and craft beers.

Taking over the former Ostuni restaurant on Londsdale Road, the decor channels Italian charm with checked table cloths, rustic tiles, and views of Italy on the walls.

The chain was founded by brothers James and Thom Elliot, after taking a 'pilgrimage' around Italy in a van searching for the best pizzas. The Queen's Park restaurant joins existing outlets in Camden, Finsbury Park, Exmouth Market and Shoreditch.

Made from slow-proved dough, the pizzas from the wood fired oven are good value (£9.95-£13.75) with tasty, slightly charred chewy crusts. Try the Margherita with a generous loading of buffalo mozarella, or the double pepperoni - a taste explosion of smoky meat drizzled with chilli honey. Pairing the spicy Calabrian sausage Nduja with pineapple offered a smiliar sweet/salty pleasure, and there's also the classic wild broccoli and spicy sausage Salsicca e Friarielli topped with smoked mozarella.

Vegans and veggies are well served with non meat options including the Ve-Du-Ja with vegan Notzarella and nduja, or the indulgent mushroom and truffle with chestnut mushrooms, grana padano and white truffle oil from Alba.

Starters include a burrata caprese salad with tomatoes and basil pesto, and crispy mac n cheese bites the size of a child's fist which you can dip into one of Pizza Pilgrims' trio of 'crust dippers' - pesto, white truffle or nduja.

Desserts include ice cream, nutella tiramisu and a nutella Pizza ring.

Pizza Pilgrims is not trying to do anything fussy, it's a super simple concept with friendly helpful staff, that really delivers on flavours.

In an area not overburdened with Pizzerias it's a welcome addition to a thriving Queen's Park street that already boasts Levantine restaurant Carmel, craft beer pub Wolf Pack, and Aussie cafe Milk Beach.

Pizza Pilgrims is at 43-47 Londsdale Road, NW6.
