Kilburn is set to be split into three Parliamentary constituencies after a national review of boundaries.

The Boundary Commission published its final report into the proposed changes for the 543 English electoral constituencies – as part of plans to rebalance the number of electors in each constituency.

A shake-up to the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency boundaries has been recommended, with much of it sent to be in the new Hampstead and Highgate parliamentary seat.

Areas such as Highgate and Gospel Oak will also be part of the new constituency.

Kilburn will be represented in Hampstead and Highgate BC and Queen’s Park & Maida Vale BC, while Brondesbury Park will be in Brent East BC.

If approved, the changes would come into effect for the next general election.

Hampstead and Kilburn MP Tulip Siddiq MP said: “It’s been the honour of my life to represent Hampstead and Kilburn. I will continue to serve all my constituents to the best of my ability until the next general election, including everyone in Kilburn, Queen’s Park and Brondesbury Park who I have been proud to represent since I was first elected in 2015.

“I will stand as Labour’s candidate for the new Hampstead and Highgate constituency if the changes are approved by the Government, and I am looking forward to serving the amazing communities that surround Hampstead Heath including in Gospel Oak and both the Camden and Haringey parts of Highgate – an area I have always loved and where I spent my teenage years.”

She added: “Brent has a special place in my heart. It’s where my mother first settled when she came to the UK as a political asylum seeker, welcomed by the Irish community in Kilburn.

“I am sad that the Boundary Commission has been forced to take the Brent wards out of my constituency and separate Kilburn, which is something I have long fought against.

“However, I know that the Brent side of Kilburn will be in safe hands as we have a brilliant council with an inspiring leader in Muhammed Butt and hard working local councillors.”
