Part of a tube line in north London was suspended during rush hour after a trackside fire alert.

There was no service on the Northern line northbound from East Finchley to High Barnet and Mill Hill East earlier today (June 20) after the London Fire Brigade was called.

Severe delays were also reported between Camden Town and East Finchley because of the fire alert.

Transport for London (TfL) said that they received a trackside fire alert near to East Finchley at about 7.20am.

A TfL spokesperson confirmed that that the London Fire Brigade attended the scene.

Services resumed at around 7.45am and a good service is now reported.

Commuters took to Twitter to complain about the disruption, with one person claiming trains were “rammed”.

They said: “Nothing says happy Tuesday quite like getting soaked on the way to the station, a Northern line suspension then, eventually, a train so rammed and sweltering that your face is just millimetres from the rivulets of sweat dripping down the door.”

The London Fire Brigade has been contacted for more information.
