A cordon has been in place for two days after a man was found with “possibly life-threatening” injuries.

Police have closed off a stretch of North End Way by Jack Straw’s Castle and reportedly near the pergola since being called to Hampstead Heath on Tuesday (March 14) at 12.36am.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and a man in his 40s was taken to hospital after he was found injured.

The Metropolitan Police have described his injuries as “possibly life-threatening” but are not able to specify the nature of the injuries or whether they are suspicious.

A spokesperson said officers are “keeping an open mind” but believe there is no evidence of this being a stabbing or shooting.

They added: “Enquiries into the full circumstances, including how the man sustained his injuries, continue.”

Officers were seen near to Jack Straw’s Castle throughout yesterday, and a cordon was still in place next to the Grade II-listed building this morning.
