A-lister Damian Lewis is to play an intimate gig at Hoxton Hall - ahead of releasing an album later this year.

The Tufnell Park actor - famous for roles in Billions, Homeland and Band of Brothers - has played guitar since the age of 13 and rediscovered his love for the instrument during lockdown.

The 52-year-old played at Wilderness Festival and Notting Hill's Tabernacle as part of the London Jazz Festival last year, and is expected to perform tracks from his debut album at the Grade II* listed Shoreditch venue.

The father of two, who lost his wife Helen McCrory to cancer in 2021, will be joined by a band of friends who are also top musicians at the 290-capacity Victorian music hall on March 3.

Giacomo Smith of jazz outfit Kansas Smitty's has co-written and plays on Lewis' album, which the actor described in an interview as "a rootsy, jazzy, rock’n’rolly, singer-songwritery-type album".

The Spy Among Friends star, who grew up in Abbey Road, St John's Wood appears at The Cheltenham Jazz Festival with Kansas Smitty's in April, and is due to start filming vampire comedy The Radleys in May.
