These photographs from Ham&High reader Alan Fox show a London park in all its winter glory.

The keen amateur photographer took the photos of Hampstead Heath on recent frosty mornings.

Mr Fox, who has lived in the Holly Lodge Estate for 35 years and lived in London throughout his working life, said: "The Heath is on our doorstep, so if the light or weather looks interesting I'll just pop out.

"I love to see the trees in all their different stages and colours; bare in winter, new leaves spring and autumn colours."

The retired IT worker enjoys trekking and counts the Coast to Coast path, Offa's Dyke path, Tour du Mont Blanc and two Nepal treks when he was younger among his achievements.

Now in his 70s, he still walks locally, in the Lake District and abroad.

He has been taking photographs as a hobby since college, working initially with black and white film, then slides and now digital.

Asked which of the current photos, were his favourite, he says: "Maybe the runners in the mist because of its composition, lighting, atmosphere, and the two frosty blackberry leaves. It's always good to stop and look closely at something like that: and taking the time to get just the right framing."
