A man who took a sword and other weapons into a hospital has been sentenced.

David Cowan, of Flask Way, Hampstead, was caught armed to the teeth at the Royal Free Hospital on November 24, 2022.

The 65-year-old pleaded guilty at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court to five charges relating to carrying weapons at the Hampstead hospital.

He had on him an expandable baton, a sword, a knuckle duster, a knife pen and a lock knife.

On December 6, Cowan was given a 12-month suspended jail sentence.

He was ordered to have treatment for alcohol dependency for six months.

Cowan must also pay £272 to cover victim service and Crown Prosecution Service charges.

All the weapons were forfeited to be destroyed.
