A family spanning four generations gathered to celebrate Chanukah this year at Jewish Care’s campus in Golders Green.

Bernice Kritz, a 90-year-old resident of Wohl Court Retirement Living apartments, in Church Road, was joined by some of her 28 grandchildren in the lighting of the Menorah.

“To have four generations of my family with me to celebrate Chanukah is wonderful”, Bernice said.

The lantern lighting event was hosted by the Jewish health and social care charity at the Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Campus on Sunday (December 18).

Many people attended - ignoring the miserable weather and World Cup frenzy - to celebrate with friends and family.

Adam Overlander-Kaye, director of fundraising and community engagement at Jewish Care, said: “This was an inspiring community celebration, lit up by the beautiful lanterns project."

The deputy mayor of Barnet, Cllr Nagus Narenthira, who was in attendance, said: “I hope light will shine on everyone and guide us through these hard times”.
