The Christmas light trail opened at Kenwood House on Friday (December 2) with families enjoying a magical walk through an illuminated wonderland.

Snowflakes were projected onto the facade of the English Heritage mansion, and trees were lit with thousands of LEDs, while stalls sold mulled wine and bratwurst in the courtyard near the Brew House Cafe.Ham & High: Poles of light change colourPoles of light change colour (Image: English Heritage/Christmas at Kenwood)

It's the second year running that the trail has lit up the grounds of Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath. An atmospheric soundscape sets the scene as rainbow coloured leaves swirl on paths, and woodland animals glow in the undergrowth, including an owl on an overhead branch.Ham & High: Illuminated woodland creatures appear in the undergrowthIlluminated woodland creatures appear in the undergrowth (Image: English Heritage/Christmas at Kenwood)

Elsewhere, dry ice and glitter balls create a colourful effect, a forest of lasers shine through foliage, stars hang from trees, and a tunnel of light plays Christmas songs as you walk through.Ham & High: Listen to festive songs as you walk through a tunnel of lightListen to festive songs as you walk through a tunnel of light (Image: English Heritage/Christmas at Kenwood)

Even Kenwood's lodge is decorated with hundreds of white lights - not to mention the giant colour-changing Christmas tree at the house's front entrance. Ham & High: A fairy walk through the woods at KenwoodA fairy walk through the woods at Kenwood (Image: English Heritage/Christmas at Kenwood)
