Hampstead and Highgate are getting into the spirit of Christmas with festive lights and carols.

After Harry Potter star Rupert Grint switches on Highgate village's Christmas lights on Wednesday (November 23), it's the turn of Hampstead to light up the High Street on November 30.

Ward Councillor Stephen Stark said the choir from New End School, Hampstead will sing modern carols outside Barclays Bank as the Christmas tree and lights are illuminated at 2.45pm.

"It will be a nice, festive affair, there will be a drinks cart with coffee and mulled wine," he said.

"We hope the weather is kind and lots of people come and join us."
