More than 120 pupils will take control of Lauderdale House next week for Museum Takeover Day.
Students from Brookfield Primary in Chester Road will hang their artwork in the galleries, get experience as event managers, and produce stories for the Highgate art centre's Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Education and Outreach officer Liv Clements has visted the Highgate school in recent weeks to help them create exhibits which reflect Lauderdale's 500-year-history - from designing a Tudor feast, to a new crest, and a plant inspired by former greenfingered resident James Yates.
Director Katherine Ives encouraged the public to "pop in and chat" on Friday, November 18 so pupils can discuss their work and practice being gallery stewards.
"'Kids in Museums Takeover Day is a national event that empowers young people to explore local museums," she said.
"We started hosting it in 2017 and it's a fantastic way for children to share their hard work with the community and find out about working in an arts and heritage organisation. We really love the energy they bring and their excitement – it’s also important that this building which was given to charitable trust by Sir Sydney Waterlow is enjoyed by everyone locally."
