A Hampstead girl who teaches history to thousands of people online has turned her mind to doll making.

Arabella Duffy found fame online aged just eight with her costumed video history lessons, which she still produces.

Now 10, she has become a familiar figure to shoppers with her homemade peg dolls at her stall, Arabella Makes.

Most Saturdays, Arabella can be found at her stall in Back Lane, off Flask Walk, chatting away with customers about her range of dolls of historical and popular figures.

Dolls have included Henry VIII, Elvis, Madame de Pompadour and Harry Kane.

The collection features model planes with dolls attached of Amelia Earhart, and artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. The late Queen has featured, van Gogh can be seen in his famous room, and cats in matchboxes have become very popular.

Prices range from £3 to £30, with some of the profits going to charity.

The business has grown over the last year and she, of course, takes commissions.

Rather than the traditional pegs, the dolls are made of pieces of wood and fabrics.

Arabella said: "In a world full of unsustainable plastic toys I wanted to create toys that are unique , made of natural up-cycled materials.

"I call them forever toys that can be cherished and loved by the kid in all of us."

Mum Sophy Smith is an artist herself and said: "She's better than me! She did a painting the other day and everybody thought it was one of mine: 'No, it's Arabella's.'

"It started as my stall with a few of hers at the end. Now it's all hers except for a few of mine."

She said Arabella, who is home schooled, has very attentive sales manner.

"Everybody who goes to the market says what a lovely and positive girl she is," she said.

"She's goes up to people and everybody says she's going to be an entrepreneur.

"She's very confident and has an almost maternal way about her."
