A low-cost gym chain is set to open in the former Woolworths and Iceland building in Finchley Road.

The Puregym will open on October 28 - the latest addition to the brand which already has more than 60 centres in the capital.

Kentish Town has a Puregym and a centre opened in Crouch End in the summer.

The new Puregym will be at 177 Finchley Road, near Swiss Cottage.

A spokesperson said: “We are thrilled to be opening yet another state-of-the-art gym in North London, this time in Swiss Cottage.

"This latest opening will further strengthen our presence in the capital and will offer the people of Swiss Cottage and the surrounding areas 24/7 access to state-of-the-art facilities to use whenever they choose.

"We look forward to growing our team and welcoming new members at PureGym London Swiss Cottage – look out for our opening offer.”

The 26,257 sq ft gym is located between Brightlinks and the Octavia Foundation and will be open 24/7 from midday on October 28.

It will include "hundreds" of pieces of equipment, a functional zone, a free weights area and a fitness studio.

Classes are included in the membership price.

The company says 12 new jobs have been created at the gym.
