ARSENAL V BURNLEY

FA CUP 5TH ROUND

SUNDAY 8 MARCH, KICK OFF 1.30PM

EMIRATES STADIUM

SETANTA

After more than three decades of avoiding each other, Arsenal and Burnley meet for the third time in just over a year.

Arsene Wenger's side travelled to Turf Moor in this competition last January and returned with a hard-fought 2-0 win. But this season, in the Carling Cup, a youthful Arsenal side were comprehensively outplayed as Owen Coyle's side easily earned themselves a 2-0 victory.

But it's a long time since Burnley, one of the 12 founding members of the Football League, last visited Arsenal.

That was back on 20 December, 1975, when Bertie Mee's side edged home 1-0 at a cold Highbury in a relegation six-pointer. The Gunners stayed up at season's end, while Burnley went down.

They have not tasted top-flight football since.

Burnley boss Coyle is desperate to bring the big times back to their small corner of Lancashire, with the Clarets lying in ninth place in the Championship prior to Tuesday's short trip to Blackpool, although their promotion hopes suffered a setback last Saturday when they were beaten 4-2 at home by Sheffield Wednesday.

Coyle says he is looking forward to locking horns with Arsene Wenger again.

"We will go to the Emirates and look to be positive," he said.

"The face we've already played them twice recently means they know what we can offer. It will be a real footballing game, that's for sure.

"I have no doubts they will give us big respect."

A 6th Round home tie with Hull City on Tuesday March 17 awaits the winners.
