The dismay of Tottenham fans at losing Croatian midfield wizard Luca Modric through injury has been tempered with the deadline day signing of his fellow countryman, Niko Kranjcar from Portsmouth.
It is believed Spurs paid around 2million for the 25-year-old playmaker, who becomes the latest Portsmouth player to follow manager Harry Redknapp to White Hart Lane.
The signing was officially announced this evening after Kranjcar successfully passed a medical near Spurs' training ground and agreed personal terms on Tuesday morning.
"I'm really delighted. I signed Niko for Portsmouth. He's a fantastic player and there are other Croatian players already here who will help him fit in," said Redknapp.
Luka Modric will be out for at least six weeks after fracturing a bone in his leg during the 2-1 win over Birmingham on Saturday.
