Further to your articles from Councillor Chris Knight and Tony Hillier of Heath and Hampstead Society; I would like to point out that the thumping noise of excavating machines, the possible damage to neighbouring houses, and the upheaval to residents working from home, coupled with the pollution from scores of earth moving trucks negotiating the narrow single carriage road, would create a daily living hell for residents for over one year of their lives.
These aspects of reckless planning accords are by-products of councils that are more concerned with cashing in on section 106 payments from basement swimming pool applicants than of preserving the peaceful existence of the people they are supposed to represent.
Fortunately in the case of 94 South Hill Park the application was rejected, but primarily due to a risk of flooding from the adjacent ponds.
An admirable decision, but the preservation of one's right to a normal and pleasant lifestyle should also be a reason for rejecting the application.
