A PAIR of suspected dangerous dogs and 100 cannabis plants have been seized from a Crouch End home.

Officers raided the Elm Grove home on Wednesday morning after concerns were raised by the local community.

A 27 year-old woman was arrested and taken to a north London police station on suspicion of possession of dangerous dogs and production of cannabis, following the discovery.

Experts will now examine the dogs to identify if they are a banned breed of pitbulls.

Superintendent Chris Barclay said: "We are aware of community concern about people who use dogs to cause antisocial behaviour, intimidation and fear.

"In nearly all cases, it is the owner who is at fault for allowing or training the dog to behave aggressively, it is not the dog that is to blame.

"All dogs, especially certain breeds, need to be properly managed so they do not become aggressive and owners have a responsibility to keep their dogs under control.

"Owning a pitbull terrier type dog or any breed that is dangerously out of control is against the law and anyone found in possession of such a dog will be investigated and could face prosecution.

"My officers will continue to work with the council and other partners to tackle the issue of dangerous dogs and find lasting solutions, through enforcement and education, to make sure that the community in Haringey is kept safe."

Anyone who has information or concerns about dangerous dogs should contact their local Safer Neighbourhoods Team or call 0300 123 1212.
