A flourish of yellow took hold of Waterlow Park as the friends and family of a former Channing School pupil took part in a charity walk to mark the anniversary of her death.
About 60 people walked a 5km or 10km route around the park last Saturday for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
They wore a piece of yellow clothing, the colour of the charity’s daffodil logo.
The Marie Curie Hospice at Eden Hall in Hampstead cared for 30-year-old Torie Benson before she died from cervical cancer in May 2011.
Torie’s mother, Sue De Botton, of Sussex Gardens, Highgate, organised the walk in the park where a bench has also been installed in memory of her daughter.
Torie’s brothers took the yellow theme one step further with one dressing up as a daffodil and the other as children’s superhero Bananaman.
Ms De Botton said: “We wanted to celebrate Torie’s life. She was very much loved and very popular. It was a lovely atmosphere on the day because we were doing it with good memories.” A total of £1,000 was raised on the day.
