West Hampstead has been hit by over 200 water leaks and pipe bursts since last December, Thames Water has revealed.
After months of disruption, engineers from the utilities company are designing a project to improve the water network in the Finchley Road area, which has been the epicentre of much of the flooding.
In the last seven months, Thames Water has fixed 232 leaks and mains bursts, 73 of which are on private pipes.
The West Hampstead Area Forum had already arranged a meeting to discuss the recent spate of flooding incidents and water leaks with a representative from Thames Water on Sunday at Hampstead Synagogue, Dennington Park Road.
Cllr Keith Moffitt, who represents West Hampstead ward, said: “The figures are even worse than I thought. I don’t know any details about the project to improve the network but it’s something we will definitely bring up at the meeting.”
A Thames Water spokesman said: “Engineers are currently working to design a project which would help improve the network around Finchley Road, although the details have not been finalised yet.”
