Hampstead animal lovers have been up to monkey business raising more than £1,000 at a tea party to support an orphanage for abandoned orang-utans in Indonesia.
Downton Abbey star Peter Egan, a patron of re-homing charity All Dogs Matter, joined the heads of several animal charities at the Hampstead fundraiser to sip tea and nibble cake while donating to International Animal Rescue (IAR).
The animal charity provides a sanctuary for baby orang-utans orphaned in Indonesia, who are often abandoned when forests are destroyed to make way for plantations.
The party was attended by Hampstead residents IAR chief executive Alan Knight OBE, founder of All Dogs Matter Ira Moss, founder of Small Steps Project Amy Hanson, and chairman of Greyhounds in Need Martin Humphery, who hosted the party to raise a total of £1,150.
