Finchley Central Tube station was closed and hundred of people were evacuated from nearby offices this morning after police received reports of a “suspicious vehicle”.
Met officers and firefighters rushed to Ballard Lane where the suspicious car was parked outside the offices of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
The area was cordoned off at 10am and the road was shut in both directions.
The cordon was cleared just before 11am, after police declared the area safe.
They told the Ham&High the vehicle was “not suspicious”.
Witness Natalie Bowen wrote on Twitter: “Alleged bomb scare in Finchley Central - they’ve evacuated lots of buildings and there’s police and fire engines.
Ash Morgan wrote: “High street has been evacuated, road cut off and everyone being asked to walk further away. ‘Suspicious vehicle’”
Henry Joseph-Grant wrote: “Never seen so many emergency service vehicles in my life – really hope it’s a false alarm.”
