Camden’s Polly Holt has been honoured with a Points of Light award by the Prime Minister for her work volunteering for eyesight-saving charity Orbis.
Polly, 40, has been working with Orbis for the last eight years, and after initially working to look after the charity’s photo archive, she has become an integral part of its campaigning.
Most notably, Polly’s illustration and animation skills were put to use as part of an award-winning ‘Vision for Zambia’ campaign, which saw £1.9million raised to help look after the vision of children in rural Zambia.
Polly said: “It’s such an honour. Orbis UK has such a positive impact on the world, and being part of that team brings me such joy, motivation, achievement, laughter, and wellbeing.”
Orbis’ Laura Burnell, who heads up the communications team Polly helps, told the Ham&High: “We realised that Polly had these incredible skills that it would be a waste not to take advantage of. She’s so talented and absolutely lovely to have around.”
