All care home residents in Barnet have now been given their first Covid jab.
The milestone was announced today (February 4) by Barnet Council, as the total number of people vaccinated in the UK surpassed 10 million.
In addition to all care home residents, more than 65 per cent of residents aged over 80 in the borough have been vaccinated.
A “large proportion” of the over 70s have also been given their first jab, the town hall said.
All Barnet residents in the top four priority groups most vulnerable to the virus are expected to have had their first Covid vaccine by mid-February.
This includes all those aged over 70, frontline health and social care workers, and extremely clinically vulnerable residents.
Vaccines are being administered by the NHS in GP centres, pharmacies, hospitals, and for those residents who are housebound, via “roving” teams.
Barnet Council urged residents not to contact the NHS for a Covid jab, and instead wait to be contacted themselves.
