Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has signed an extended deal at The Emirates.

He joins Johan Djourou, Kolo Toure, Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas in committing his long-term future to the Gunners.

Emmanuel Eboue last week also put pen to paper on a new contract and Nicklas Bendtner is also expected to sign a new five-year deal.

Adebayor, a Togo international striker, impressed in his first full season with a string of match-winning displays.

His winner at Manchester United last September proved a highlight for a player whose swashbuckling, wholehearted style and vital goals won the fans over quickly.

The 23-year-old joined the Gunners from French club AS Monaco in the 2006 January transfer window and manager Arsene Wenger has been quick to reward him for his hard work, particularly when he had to shoulder much of the side's attacking burden after injuries to Thierry Henry and van Persie.

Adebayor has netted 16 goals in 57 appearances for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Wenger has assured fans they will be back among the silverware next season.

Arsenal have not won anything for two years but the French coach - who is expected to watch Michael Owen play for England B against Albania tonight - believes his young side will end the club's mini trophy drought that goes back to May 2005 when they won the FA Cup.

"I believe that at the moment our fans think we have fantastic potential, but that they also have the anxiety of whether or not they will deliver," said Wenger.

"And I tell our fans that they will deliver. They will. They have to continue to believe in the team.

"At the moment that is the only question mark. Nobody questions the quality in our team, the potential we have. But everybody is asking 'will they deliver?'

"Well, they have to trust us. This side can be absolutely outstanding. But to win trophies you have to be a killer. You have to have everything together.

"I believe that we have to be faithful to the way we see the game."

l Arsenal will host a pre-season tournament in July. The Emirates Cup will be contested over two days between the Gunners, Germans Hamburg, Serie A champions Internazionale and French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.

The tournament will be heldon Saturday July 28 and Sunday July 29.
