Your article about Jonathan Barr, the solicitor who is charging Transport for London for lateness in responding to his queries, should serve as a precedent for those of us who are the victim of maladministration or computer glitches (Angry driver turns the tables, H&H March 6).
My vehicle suddenly became festooned with tickets after the permit was renewed despite a wasted phone call immediately after the first one, when I was told that everything was in order.
After every ticket and reminder a letter has to be sent and the computer problem was only resolved after a tortuous one hour of queuing in the parking shop. Even so yet another penalty notice has unsurprisingly arrived, demanding £80.
It would be some compensation for all these wasted hours and postage if a contribution equivalent to the sum demanded were paid to a good cause such as the Mayor's Charity.
The vast income generated by councils and their contractors would be dented by £400 already, in my case.
What's sauce for the goose...?
