BUS strikes have caused commuter chaos in Hampstead and Highgate today (October 10).
Archway Tube Station overflowed, and thousands of workers were left seeking alternative transport to the 160 bus routes that are out of action today - mainly in north and west London.
The strikes have been prompted by the Unite union's call for all bus drivers to be given a standard £30,000 salary for all bus drivers.
Unite officer Peter Kavanagh said yearly pay in the capital's 18 bus companies varied by up to £6,000. "There is a startling disparity between bus drivers' pay in the capital, with rosters in some companies seeing many drivers complete nearly 60 hours a week," he said.
Unite is planning a further 24-hour strike on October 22. For more information about which bus routes are affected visit www.tfl.gov.uk.
