ARE those councillors who recently advocated the use of open barbecues on ancient woodland the same ones who sent a letter threatening a £20,000 fine to the landlord of the Duke of Hamilton, New End, for his very popular (and environmentally friendly) thrice-yearly venison/hog roasts?
All this was on the basis of a single anonymous complaint from a neighbour who, presumably, knowingly moved in next to a 230-year old pub.
Since public houses seem to be going out of business at a remarkable rate, surely we should applaud such initiative.
