A Stoke Newington swan found itself lost in the snow yesterday and had to be rescued by police.
Officers were called to Allerton Road at 12.50pm by a concerned onlooker who saw the stranded bird.
It was taken to nearby nature reserve Woodberry Wetlands, but police in Hackney say there seems to be a trend of the animals landing in the snow and “getting confused”.
The RSPB told the Gazette: “The thoughts here are that they are probably landing on a cleared area like a road thinking it’s water and then getting confused about what to do and panicking.”
