Stamford Hill Youth Club has won a national award from The Guinness Partnership housing association - and with it a grant to buy a pool table, football games, computers and board games.
The club on the Stamford Hill Estate caters for children and young people from the ages of six to 19 two nights a week, and helps tackling anti-social behaviour on the estate.
Up to 50 children attend each evening for sessions which include football coaching.
Youth Club leader Charlene McCook said: “The children and young people get so much from coming to the club.
“It is so important that young people have a ‘space’ so that they develop emotionally - whether it is learning new computer skills, or just playing table tennis or board games with their friends.
“And what is really great is seeing young people that have grown up on the estate now helping out with the project.
“The sky’s the limit for the youth club.”
