The proposed new boundaries for Hackney’s constituencies are unchanged, after the final recommendations were published by the Boundary Commission this morning.
Hackney North and Stoke Newington, currently represented by shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, will be split between a new Finsbury Park and Stoke Newington seat, and a Hackney constituency.
Hackney will also pick up part of Hackney South and Shoreditch.
The remaining part of Meg Hillier’s seat will form the new Shoreditch and Bethnal Green seat.
The review, which takes place every ten years, aims to try and get the same number of voters in each seat.
The initial proposals were criticised by the Town Hall. The mayor, Phil Glanville said he was “bemused” and Hackney had been treated “absolutely disgracefully”.
Any boundary proposals would have to be passed by Parliament, with the DUP thought to be unhappy about proposals for Northern Ireland.
