As students prepare to receive their A-level results, BTEC and other vocational qualifications today, I’d like to recognise the hard work and commitment they have shown over the past year.

It’s been a challenging period for students, teachers, and school staff - this is a fantastic achievement and I wish you all well in your future endeavours.

As a borough, we are ambitious for our young people and want to ensure the very best opportunities are available for them. Our science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) programme is helping to open doors for young people to careers in the growing digital, creative and technology sector in Camden.

Recently Camden STEAM partnered up with world-leading organisations including Google and Arup to deliver work experience placements for over 150 local students. We want even more students to benefit from this programme, and in autumn we will be launching a new STEAM strategy which sets out an ambition to scale this programme so all Year 12 students can access a high-quality work experience placement.

Parents and carers with children going into Year 6 will soon be applying for a secondary school place for 2023. We understand there’s a lot to think about, so our admissions team will be hosting an event at Arlington House on September 28 for them to find out more about the transfer process.

Our secondary schools are high achieving and ambitious for students and I encourage parents and carers to see for themselves what our secondary schools have to offer by coming to the event, as well as visiting schools on their own open days and evenings.

We’re so proud of the brilliant education settings we have here in Camden. Our teachers are centre to this, and I’d like to thank them for everything they do to support students, and whose hard work has helped to make such amazing results possible.
