A FIRE which ripped through a Muswell Hill church hall is being investigated by police.
Flames engulfed the former United Reform church hall in Alexandra Park Road, yesterday (Sunday august 23) afternoon, causing part of the roof to collapse.
Up to 20 people were evacuated from flats next door, as firefighters battled for three and a half hours to extinguish the blaze.
Six fire engines and 20 firemen attended the scene. The fire was under control by 8.05pm.
A police spokeswoman said the cause of the blaze was "unexplained" and officers from Haringey CID were investigating.
