A crackdown on drug dealing and yobbish behaviour in Camden Town has ended in 14 arrests.

The four-month operation, code named Penang, saw 13 men and one woman arrested between the ages of 16 and 39.

The initiative was part of the ongoing battle against drugs, violent crime and anti-social behaviour in the heart of Camden Town.

The arrests were carried out on a series of dates this month. A large quantity of class A drugs and a stash of cash were also seized in the police raids.

Police have charged 12 of the 14 arrested and remanded them in custody. Two men aged 17 and 26.

The police have now launched Operation Nardus to target anti-social behaviour and drugs around Camden Road and the canal tow path.

Chief Supt Dominic Clout said, "Police activity will continue in the coming weeks and well into the Christmas period. We all need to work together now to help keep drugs and crime curtailed in Camden."

The charges are as follows:

* Mohammed Said, age 18, of Pandian Way, Camden Town was arrested on 27th October 2008 and charged with two offences of supplying cocaine.

* A 16-year-old man is accused of five offences of supplying cocaine.

* Mohammed Hersi, age 21, of no fixed abode was arrested on 24th October 2008 and charged with five offences of supplying cocaine and ecstasy.

* Ali Ali, age 21, of Lady Somerset Road, Kentish Town, NW5, was arrested on 24th October 2008 and charged with five offences of supplying cocaine.

* Adil Osman, age 19, of Adelaide Road, NW3 was arrested on 24th October 2008 and charged with thirteen offences of supplying cocaine, crack cocaine and heroine, as well as breaching his anti-social behaviour order, (ASBO).

* Kenidad Osman, age 18, of Juniper Crescent, NW1 was arrested on 24th October 2008 and charged with supplying cocaine.

* Ahmed Sadique Ahmed, date of birth, 02/07/1989, age 19, of Crowndale Road, NW1 was arrested on 24th October 2008 and charged with supplying cocaine.

* Mohammed Shire, age 21 of Camden Road, NW1 was arrested on 24th October 2008 and charged with six offences of supplying cocaine, crack/cocaine and heroin.

* Rosalyn St Marks, age 39, of no fixed abode was arrested on 12th October 2008 and charged with supplying crack and heroin.

* Steven Pither, date of birth, 14/09/1978, age 30, of Spode Walk, NW6 was arrested on 12th October 2008 and charged with supplying crack/cocaine and heroin.

* Oluwole Oloruntoba, age 23, of Dacca Street, SE8 was charged with eight offences of supplying crack cocaine.

* Lloyd Maito, age 21, of Widecombe House, SE5 was charged with five offences of supplying crack/cocaine and is currently on conditional bail.
