The newest Arsenal striker has a big budget to play with and Patrick Vieira, Mesut Ozil, and his hero Thierry Henry all owning property locally he’d be in good company

Forget fantasy football, how about some fantasy house hunting?

Arsenal has just signed French Striker Alexandre Lacazette in a record breaking £52 million transfer record.

As the Gunners newest star he will command a £200,000 a week salary, which gives him a big accommodation budget to play with even after purchasing the obligatory fast cars and fancy watches.

Hampstead has proved a firm favourite with Arsenal players in the past, so there’s a high chance the newest member of the team will take a shine to a north London postcode.

Before he drops millions on a mansion Laxazette will probably make like most Arsenal players and rent a luxury home in the area for the first season.

The 26 year old player has signed a five year contract from Lyon, so there’s plenty of time for him to fall in love with north London and buy in the area.

This six bedroom home on Westover Hill is available to rent for £3,250 a week, which would barely put a dent in that £200k salary. It comes with an indoor swimming pool and sauna and is in a gated development so Lacazette wouldn’t have to worry about overzealous fans hanging around outside.

Westover Hill, NW3, is available to rent at £3,250 pw from Aston Chase.

Former midfielder Patrick Vieira bought a home by the Heath for £3 million in 2001, which he demolished after discovering it had a damp problem. He built a four storey five bedroom home with a basement in its place.

Much of the furniture was made bespoke for the house and the owner could be persuaded to part with it, which would save him the drag of going sofa shopping.

The road is a favourite with footballers for its premier location and its excellent security. It’s opposite the park, so he could always pop over to have a kick around with the locals.

West Heath Avenue, NW11, is on the market with Aston Chase for £6,975,000.

Mesut Ozil, who previously held the transfer record at £42.4 million when Arsenal bought him from Real Madrid, reportedly bought a home in between Highgate Village and Hampstead Heath last year.

The midfielder bought his £10 million home on his £140,000 a week salary. If Lacazette is feeling a little competitive he could score this £22.5 million house on Cannon Lane.

It was designed by Kanye West’s architect and has been decked out in £1 million of Italian stone for that rockstar vibe.

Heath would certainly be a power player move.

Cannon Lane is on the market with Beauchamp Estates for £22,500,000.

A little bit further out goalkeeper David Ospina lives in a £16 million house in Hampstead Garden Suburb. Ospina is rumoured to be thinking of quitting the Emirates so his house may well be up for sale soon.

Olivier Giroud also resides in the area and with Everton eyeing him up his place on the Arsenal team may not last the transfer window and there could be another footballer’s residence back on the market.

Lacazette said his move to arsenal was inspired by ex striker Tierry Henry. “Throughout my childhood and thanks to Arsenal’s former striker Thierry Henry and other French players, I always dreamed of playing for this club so that dream has been fulfilled,” he told the BBC.

Henry caused quite a splash by becoming embroiled in a planning battle over his designs to pull down the £6 million mansion and replace it with one that included a 40 ft aquarium. The project, fish tank and all, was given the go ahead in 2012.

Neighbour Tom Conti, who was vehemently opposed to the scheme, has now put his own home on the market.

Perhaps Lacazette will be tempted to follow even further in the footsteps of his hero and purchase The Wabe, which Conti is selling for £15 million.

The Wabe is on the market with London Real Estate Advisors for £15 million.

Of course with the ink barely dry on his contract it’s far too soon to say which piece of prime north London property will turn this new star player’s head. We’re sure estate agents are already queuing up to show him round, though.

Happy house hunting, Lacazette.
