Situated on Highgate West Hill, the contemporary home is on the market for £4,500 per week, more than six times the average rent for the area, which Foxtons puts at £646 per week.

Paul Glass, lettings manager at Day Morris attributes the high rent for the property to a range of factors, chief among them being the house’s “opulence”.

He said: “It’s in a desirable area with lots of 300-year-old Georgian buildings, and the location and size of the property add to its expense,” he said.

“There’s a particular room with an iPad security system on the wall and all the technology gubbins that can control items in the house. I was blown away by it, it’s a different world.”

He added that the previous tenant was “relatively high profile”, and moved out unexpectedly due to the nature of their work.

“He was a footballer and prospective tenants have been similar or people at the very top of their profession in law or finance. Musicians, models and actors temporarily working in London and overseas business owners or top exec’s setting up shop in the UK have also shown interest.”

The home features a double space garage complete with a usable turntable and a technology room filled with gadgets, along with a stone clad water feature situated outside on the patio.

The advert describes it as a “stunningly designed, six-bedroom detached family home, which has been recently built to the highest of specifications”.

Per annum, the rent adds up to £234,000, almost seven times the median wage of inner-city Londoners according to the Office of National Statistics.

The house, which was put up for rent last week, is available immediately through Day Morris.
