Selling cars while letting properties is all in a day’s work for Chanel Rodriguez, head of lettings at Knight Frank’s new Belsize Park office.

What’s special about your agency?

Knight Frank is the trusted adviser. It’s very different to the other corporate agencies I’ve worked for. You really feel like you’re part of something. Everybody has the same goal, we’re all working together. I’ve always known that Knight Frank is the best.

Where do you live and with whom?

I live in Highbury with my partner.

What’s your favourite thing about your current property?

Definitely the location.

If you weren’t an estate agent what would you be?

When I was younger I was always into music and I did performing arts and dance at A-level so I’d like to think I would be a singer or performer.

Aside from property, what has been your biggest purchase?

Holidays. I like to go away a few times a year. I’m just about to go to Las Vegas.

What’s your dream house?

I see so many beautiful properties at Knight Frank. In Belsize Park there are a lot of period conversions that have been modernised but are still traditional, with their original features.

What’s the most surprising thing you’ve seen on the job?

I can’t think of anything that still shocks or surprises me these days, however I did have an unusual job this year where a landlord was moving abroad and wanted me to let their house while they were away. Whilst we were finalising the let, the landlord mentioned that she would not be needing her car so I managed to sell that to the tenant as well. Both parties were very happy.

What are your top tips for the local area?

The proximity to open space with Primrose Hill and the Heath. There are four focal shopping districts: England’s Lane, Belsize Village, Steeles Village and Haverstock Hill and there’s a real sense of community – the people are lovely!

If you were mayor of Belsize Park, where in the world would you twin it with?

I asked a client where in the world they felt Belsize Park was most similar to and they suggested Arcachon South West France: “Historically popular as a destination for families to escape to at weekends it has now developed into one of the most popular and attractive (seaside) destinations in France. The bohemian town centre with markets and vibrant atmosphere, and then the ‘winter town’ (the “ville d’hiver”) has an extensive number of grand villas.”

What would you do on your dream day off?

I would probably go shopping, or have lunch with friends or my partner. A nice chilled day, because it’s not very chilled during the week.
