Nonnatus House from BBC’s Call The Midwife can be all yours for £6 million
A converted chapel that starred in hit drama Call The Midwife is on the market for £6 million in Barnet. The NW7 home took the form of Nonnatus House, the convent where character Jenny Lee worked as a midwife and district nurse in the programme. It was restored as ‘The Chapel’ in 2013 by Berkeley Homes as part of the St Joseph’s Gate redevelopment.
The Grade II listed home provides over 8000 sq ft of designer specification luxury accommodation, but puritans might have to avert their eyes as the property has swapped pews and altars for a gymnasium complete with spa, sauna and steam room.
Those praying to win the lottery will have plenty of room to look to the heavens to given the 45ft high vaulted ceilings, and can find food for the soul in the top-of-the-range open plan kitchen by Italian designer Pedini. Fans of the series can catch up on the drama in the media room, which features a 110 inch cinema screen.
The home has been interior designed by Alexander James Interiors and every effort has been made to preserve the original period detailing that contributed to the historic status of the local landmark. Original features have been complimented with herringbone flooring, arched oak doors and bespoke furniture.

A rousing curved gallery lined with granite pillars offers 180 degree panoramic views from 15 south-facing windows, which look out over the lawns and further towards Wembley Stadium. Residents can take tea in a private courtyard, or resist forbidden fruit in the orangery which has access to the property’s very own Eden, set in landscaped gardens and seven acres of private grounds.
The property is steeped in history. The Victorian place of worship was founded by Cardinal Herbert Alfred Vaughan, founder of the Mill Hill Missionaries in 1866, as Saint Joseph’s College, a seminary college used to train foreign missionaries working for the British Empire. “The long history of this iconic building enriches the living space and gives the building character you just cannot find elsewhere,” said Rameen Firoozan, managing director at Berkeley Homes (Three Valleys).

The Chapel is listed for £6,000,000 and is marketed by Knight Frank.
