From celebrity spotting to a star endorsement, the final three apartments of The Chilterns development are the last word in luxury living in Marylebone
The first completed and dressed luxury residence at the Chilterns has been revealed today, as part of collaboration with famous fashion photographer David Bailey.
Developers Frogmore and Galliard Homes enlisted Mr Bailey’s skills as a snapper to create original artwork to be displayed in the residences and the eponymous David Bailey art gallery lobby.
The show residence features 10 specially commissioned framed David Bailey prints, and there are a further 16 large scale pieces on display in the lobby gallery, curated by Bailey himself.
David Bailey said: The best way to see a place is to photograph it. You don’t always see a place, a person, a park until you look at a photograph. So the new collection of work at The Chilterns provides my modest look at Marylebone. Keep looking until you really begin to see.”
In a departure from his usual oeuvre of Vogue-worthy fashion photos and 60s style icons Bailey took his inspiration for the series from the streets of Marylebone. The pieces all focus on iconic sights from the local area, including Regency architecture and the BBC headquarters.
The development at 24 Paddington gardens comprises of 44 luxury residences, the majority of which were sold off plan in 2013. With The Chilterns now at 95 per cent completion the show home has been unveiled and the last three residences released for sale.
Stephen Conway, chief executive of Galliard Homes said: “We are delighted to unveil the first completed and dressed residence at The Chilterns. We believe that we have delivered on our initial vision for The Chilterns which was to create the most exclusive address in Marylebone.”
The first of the completed residence at the Chilterns is a three bedroom apartment on the market for £7.7 million. The 2,678 sq ft of lateral living space includes a large ‘L’ shaped tripe reception room, which has been styled by interior designer Rabih Hage to create two discreet living areas and a 14-seater dining room.
The kitchen/breakfast room has been features Limed Oak storage units, stone worktops and integrated Gaggenau appliances, all bespoke designed by Hage. Folding timber panels can be closed to conceal the units and transform the space into the ultimate private entertainment venue.
The master bedroom suite opens onto a private roof terrace and includes a walk-in dressing area and marble floored master bathroom complete with in-wall plasma television.
The second three bedroom apartment is priced at £7.75 million, and there is a two bedroom available for £3.8 million. As well as the art gallery in the lobby, 24 Paddington Gardens provides a gym and sauna, private cinema, wine cellars with wine tasting room and a signature restaurant.
With all that under one roof, future residents would be forgiven for never setting foot out of the building. Should they decide to venture out, the location has much to offer in terms of cultural capital in the capital. Built on the site of the former home of French ambassador Viscount Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand, the development sits between the trendy bars and boutiques of Marylebone High Street and Baker Street.
The apartments also share a street with the erstwhile haunt of the rich and famous, the Chiltern Firehouse hotel and restaurant, so you might want to practices your pose for the paparazzi before stepping our the front door. Hurry, with only three apartments left they’re sure to be gone in a flash.
