A St John’s Wood mansion, which belonged to Jackie Collins during the late 1970s and early 80s, is on the market for £11.5 million.

The property is on leafy Hamilton Terrace, one of the premier roads in NW8, and can count Lewis Hamilton, Keith Richards and Paul McCartney as neighbours.

The Hampstead-born novelist, who died in September this year, lived in the house with her second husband, Oscar Lerman, who owned celebrity hotspot Tramp on Jermyn Street at the time.

The couple also lived with their two daughters Tiffany and Rory and Collins’ daughter Tracy from her first marriage to Wallace Austin.

They sold the property in 1982 when they moved to Los Angeles, where Collins wrote her most famous book, Hollywood Wives, inspired by her experiences in the city, which sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.

The property’s interior has been entirely renovated since then and now boasts a glass dining room with white neoclassical pillars, a 112ft garden and staff quarters, as well as a host of original features.

A drawing room and separate reception room provide ample entertaining space – ideal if the new owners wish to emulate its former inhabitants, who were friends with a host of A-listers, including Michael Caine, Sean Connery and Roger Moore.

Tramp was a favourite with the glamour set of the 70s and 80s and even hosted wedding receptions for Peter Sellers, Liza Minnelli, Ringo Starr and Collins’ older sister Joan.

Collins, who had a brief affair with Marlon Brando aged 15, after she was expelled from Francis Holland School, started her professional life as an actress but switched to writing after taking a series of small parts in low budget British films.

Her first book, The World is Full of Married Men, was published in 1968 and prompted romantic novelist Barbara Cartland to accuse Collins of “creating every pervert in Britain”.
