Last orders at The Engineer rang out for the last time on Saturday night (October 1).

The iconic gastropub and favourite of the Primrose Hill set held a busy send off last weekend after a last-ditch effort to stave off a takeover by pub chain and landlord Mitchells & Butlers failed. The pub was a much-loved watering hole and eatery for local celebrities such as Jamie Oliver and Jon Snow.

Owners Tamsin Olivier, daughter of legendary actors Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Joan Plowright, and Abigail Osborne will take up the reins at The Hampshire Hog, in Ravenscourt Park, West London after their 17-year stint in Gloucester Avenue came to an end.

A spokesman from the pub group, which owns 1,600 pubs and restaurants across the country, said the chain intends to keep it as a unique and welcoming place for local people.
