A charity chief from Hampstead says he was honoured to be awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list.

John Joseph, chairman of Jewish Blind & Disabled, was praised for his charity work.

He said: “I am particularly honoured that the award has been given for services to disadvantaged young people and to people with disabilities in the Jewish community.”

Hazel Kaye, chief executive of Jewish Blind & Disabled, said: “This is such a well-deserved honour, under John’s chairmanship Jewish Blind & Disabled has gone from strength to strength so that we are able now to transform the lives of so many more people with physical disabilities or impaired vision and John genuinely cares about each and every one of them.”
