Andrew Amdur is a tenor from Temple Fortune who recently serenaded audiences of 80,000 at Twickenham.

He regularly tours Europe with opera performances and entertains the crowds in Covent Garden with roadside solos.

Tell us more about your singing

I recently performed at Twickenham for the England v Argentina match. I sang the national anthem in front of 80,000 and really enjoyed it. My teacher, Carlo Bergonzi says that I'm a great tenor. I've got classical opera training, but am trying to cross over into commercial. Musically I'm in the middle.

What do you like most about the area?

It's a great area to live in, especially if you've got small children. It's a lively area. In this vicinity there's lots of interesting places to go to relax. It's a lovely place, a very social area.

What is the worst thing?

There's a lot of traffic at certain times of the day. That's all I can think of! Overall, it's a great place to live.

Which is your favourite local building?

Kenwood House is a beautiful park with amazing views. It's a great place to spend every day of the week.

What is your favourite building?

I love the new Hampstead Theatre. It's got a nice aesthetic about it. It's quite graceful. There are some great art deco places in Hampstead.

And the area's biggest eyesore?

I've got to say there's no tremendous eyesore. Nothing springs to mind. I've only got positive things to say about the area. I mean, nobody likes scaffolding up in areas, but things have to be built. Overall I'd say this is a superb area to reside in. I suppose Finchley can be quite loud in the evenings.

Where's your favourite place to shop?

I like Brent Cross. I also love Hampstead High Street. There are some nice shops in Hampstead although they're quite pricey. You don't get value for money.

Where are your favourite places to eat and drink?

I like the Coffee Cup on Hampstead High Street. I've been going there for many years. It's a great place to have a hot chocolate and a raisin toast. I'm an opera singer so I only drink very rarely. It's important to protect your voice.

Who was the last celebrity you SPOTTED IN the area?

I saw Warren Mitchell in Kenwood Park walking his dogs. In my line of work I do meet a few celebs though - I've met Placido Domingo and Pavarotti.

What would you do with a million pounds?

I would give 30 per cent to charity and set up my own record label to record the Andrew Amdur album!
